Clinician
Participants

The AI clinician study is taking place across 2
NHS trusts in 4 Intensive Care Units (ICUs).
We will test the tool in two stages.

As part of our NIHR AI Award, we are conducting two
multi-center studies, to test the safety and reliablity of the AI we developed

Stage 1

In the first stage we will develop sepsis tool
for doctors to use.

In the first stage we will develop sepsis tool Off duty doctors will be given the treatment choices made by the AI Clinician. We would like to find out if the off duty doctors agree with the treatments chosen by the AI clinician or what other treatments they would choose. For information on stage 1, please download the participant information sheet below.

Stage 1

Shadow Mode, Post-Hoc Ai Safety assessment

Stage 2

Pilot study at the bedside,
live technical reliability & safety

Stage 2

The second experiment involves the evaluation of the AI’s recommendations at the patient’s bedside.

In the first stage we will develop sepsis tool
aThis will test how well the tool works with real time patients on a hospital ward. We will ask doctors is they agree with the treatment choices and how we can improve the AI Clinician. This information will help us to design large scale clinical trials in the future. For more information on the second stage, please download the participant information sheet below. Off duty doctors will be given the treatment choices made by the AI Clinician. We would like to find out if the off duty doctors agree with the treatments chosen by the AI clinician or what other treatments they would choose.
